Supplies
- Plastic Easter Eggs
- Pipe Cleaners
- Googly Eyes
- Small Battery powered tea lights
- Black sharpie
- hot glue gun
- aluminum foil
- push pin
Directions
Take your plastic Easter egg and using a push pin you are going to put 6 holes for the bug’s legs. 3 and 3.
On the fat half of the egg poke 2 holes for the antennae. Cut a pipe cleaner into 1 1/2 inch pieces and just stick them down into the holes. You can use your hot glue gun to secure them if desired.
Do the same with the legs. Cut and shape your pipe cleaners and poke them right into the holes you made. Use hot glue to secure them.
Get a battery powered tea light candle. They can be found at the dollar store. You are going to put this on the inside of your egg. It should fit perfectly.
Glue on the googly eyes and use your sharpie to draw on a smile!
Finally cut out some aluminum foil wings and glue them on the outside of your egg lightning bug when you click it together.
When you turn the lights out your bug will have a gentle glow just like a real lightning bug!
This is a fun craft to keep the kids busy for Spring or Summer Break. Even a cute craft for a campout party. These DIY Lightning bugs just turn out super cute!
